This is a roleplaying journal. Player will match the energy levels of the writing partner, from tagging once a day to multiple times a day to a few times a month.  Due to past issues, I will not pester for tags and will more than likely drop them if it takes more than 3-4 weeks for return tags, no matter the engaging plot.

Canon Divergent after Jiang Cheng loses his core to Wen Zhuliu. Cheng manages to be competent enough to tell Wuxian NO to the Core Transfer. So, as Jiang Cheng refuses the ultimate sacrifice, he and Wei Wuxian brainstorm on a way to save Lotus Pier. The concoction of Demonic Cultivator is given life and so Jiang Cheng buries his given name and continues on with life as Jiang Wanyin. With the help of his brother, he develops a new persona. Unable to use his spiritual tools, he gives his Zidian to Wuxian and Sandu to Yanli and cultivates the story that Lotus Pier is no longer a part of the Cultivation world. No one saved them or came to their aid when the Wens were on the rampage, therefore they would cede from Cultivation. His weapon of choice becomes a black war fan that acts just like a spiritual weapon. The name is Silong (Death Dragon).

In turn, he goes against the major sect leaders and demands the Wen remnants to be placed in his possession. When Guangshan refuses, Wanyin convinced that they should be released into his care with a very choreographed fan show that leaves several cultivators bleeding with non-lethal wounds and the chains on the Wens removed. He leaves during the Jin sanctioned cultivation celebration, telling his sister to try and marry the Peacock and ordering Wuxian to remain with her.

Lotus Pier remains a bustling port but Wanyin does not show his face in public. The Wen Remnants originally stayed in the palace but eventually integrated themselves into the people of Yunmeng. Any rumors that Wanyin was trying to gain more power than he had were squelched quickly and anyone who tried to spread them after Wanyin denied it was silenced. They never disappeared, weren't found dead just...they never spoke again.

The current rumors flow that Wanyin keeps Lotus Pier in thrall as a front for something more sinister. Unfortunately, it can't be researched because his sister married into the Jins and Wei Wuxian married into Gusu. The only other sect that might want to contest Yunmeng is Qinghe but so far, they have not made any war plans.

The TRIAD - Chinese Mafia
The main families of the Triad are Nie, Jin and Lan.  Minor families are Jiang and (formerly) Wen.  

When Wanyin was 18, the minor families warred with each other.  Wanyin's parents were killed in the ambush, leaving Wanyin to become the head at 18.  His sister, Yanli, had already married Jin Zixuan and became a part of the casino tycoon business.
Wanyin retaliated against the Wens as soon as he was able to, decimating the family and obtaining a prized assassin, Xue Yang.  After such a victory-and in order to keep his own family and business interests safe from the Triad, he does not pursue growth after but continues to run his own business of traditional Pear Diving, exotic silks (both Lotus and Lotus/mulberry blend), and an export of plums for Japan's Umeshu wine.

A truce came between Lan and Jiang with Wanyin's brother courting the second in line of the Lan family. With Yanli already married to Jin, Wanyin felt like he could breathe a bit by having alliances with two of the three Triad.  The only ones he needed to worry about were the Nies.  The Butchers, the Cleaners.  Which was why he took in Xue Yang, from the Wens.  The man was a killer through and through and a solid merc to boot.  The highest bidder was Wanyin who offered everything to the nearly feral man.  He was more than just a killer and Wanyin saw that.

His preferred defensive weapon is a fan, reinforced to deflect bullets and wrapped in a thick, ominous black silk. He calls it Silong and has been known to kill others with it, even though he's perfectly capable of using firearms and martial arts.

There will still be notes of Wuxia involved in this. Wanyin will still have his fan and a marked knowledge of sigils and talismans.
